Mar Lar Soe

Story

Combining farmer and market development.

Having a career that combines making a difference with market development is highly rewarding for Marlar, the East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer (EWSKT) Manager in Myanmar.

“Most of our clients are smallholder farmers who still use widespread traditional practices, often with limited access to technical knowledge and market information that creates weak linkages to the value chain.”

Sustainability for smallholder farmers - and the seed industry - through market development is what excites her the most about working with EWSKT.
“We combine quality seeds, provide improved growing practice and farmer knowledge to make farmers successful which can create opportunities to develop new markets for the commercial departments of EWS.”

Marlar has 14 years’ experience conducting Integrated Pest Management with the government’s Plant Protection Division and seven years’ experience leading countrywide teams for the design, development, and introduction of low pressure drip irrigation systems.
